Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

It is not the children's fault that they are born! If people who smoke and drink in excess would think a little before they had sex and impregnate their significant other(s) or if they had more common sense and realize that all that toxins they have in their bodies (system) could potentially damage an infant while in the womb. It is essential for the fetus to be healthy in early gatraulation because the first three weeks are the most harmful to the fetus. In many cases the cause for our illnesses is due to the pregnant mother because they don’t want to change their life style. When women are pregnant it is easier to pass down the illness to their uinborn child and is mainly the cause for the child’s sicknesses and illnesses. When we talk about alcohol we really do not realize how much harm we are causing our-self let alone a child in the womb of its mother. Fetal Alcohol syndrome I do not find it just that a pregnant mother will not change her life style of drinking while pregnant, and not giving the baby a chance to live a normal life. Because of her egotistical self of not wanting to change temporary not for her but for her child if they knew that the embryo is in great danger in the first three month of pregnancy. When a pregnant women drinks alcohol at any stage of pregnancy: it easily passes the placenta and into the fetus harming the baby's development. It is not only the women's fault but the men should take some of the responsibility because it takes two to tangle. We need to be better educated in this matter because there is no reason why a baby should have to suffer with all these symptoms and give it the opportunity to live a normal life.

Drug Mechanisms and the harm they cause

The topic that was an eye opener to me was how drug mechanisms work. When you are a teenager and think that you know it all is when we (teenagers) commit many mistakes that lead up to problems when we are grownups. We do not look at the consequences that it may have if we snort that bump of cocaine or if we take a hit of that joint and taking it to the extreme and shooting up heroin. If we knew that by using cocaine which is a stimulant drug and that it increases excitement and activity while it elevates your mood and then decreasing fatigue. And that it stimulates dopamine synapses in the nucleus accumbens which is located at the base of the forebrain and is a collection of neurons that are thought to play many roles in our brain such as pleasure addiction and fear and by increasing the presence of the dopamine in the presynaptic terminal it decreasing the reuptake and prolonging the effects of released dopamine. The excess dopamine in the synapse washes away and never comes back you can't replace it. Marijuana on the other hand is a depressant and that it may cause memory loss to those who are new or heavy users. Even though marijuana has been legalized to medical purposes teenagers use it to get high not knowing the risks they are taking and the consequences it will bring them in the future.
